Kevin Stefanski Provides Major Update on Key Browns Stars' Status Ahead of Steelers Clash
The Cleveland Browns are preparing to face the Pittsburgh Steelers for Week 17. Some key players, Harold Fannin Jr., Dillon Gabriel, Myles Garrett, Sam Kamara, Dylan Sampson, and Wyatt Teller, are listed as questionable.
On Friday, head coach Kevin Stefanski shared updates on the game status of these players.
No 'Major' Injuries?
Stefanski informed that Fannin sustained a groin injury during practice on Friday.
“Just had something come up. Sometimes injuries happen on a Friday, and you got to see how it progresses to Sunday,” Stefanski said. “He'll do everything he can to be out there.”
He called Gabriel’s left shoulder injury soreness that emerged on the same day. Teller practiced in a limited capacity after he missed Weeks 14, 15, and 16 due to a calf injury. Stefanski said he’s glad Teller is practicing.
“Feel good if he's in there, he will be ready to roll and feel good about Teven (Jenkins) as well," Stefanski added.
And that's not all!
Back on Tuesday, Stefanski updated on Sampson’s condition, saying he “continues to get better by the day.”
“We’ll see what that looks like for this week. We’ll take in information, but feel good about the guys that we have, and they’ll be ready to step up.”
Meanwhile, David Njoku and Winston Reid are listed as out. Njoku’s season-ending knee injury has resulted in three missed games.
Njoku was hurt in the second quarter while playing against the Titans in week 14. Stefanski did not clarify when the tight end will be back.
“Obviously, a guy that has played really good football for us, so we'll see when we can get him back out there,” Stefanski said.
Linebacker Ried had injured his back, and he too practiced as a limited participant on Friday. He returned to practice on 17 December after being on the injured reserve list.
Most recently, Quinshon Judkins was injured on Sunday and had to undergo surgery. Stefanski reassured that he will rebound and but will not be playing until 4-5 months.
The 22-year-old running back dislocated his ankle and fractured his fibula just before halftime in the game against the Bills.
The Browns were eliminated from the playoff race, but the Steelers, 9-6 and first in the AFC North, are still fighting to clinch the spot.
If they don’t want to end up in another 3-14 season like last year, they must win against Aaron Rodgers and the team.
