Kevin Stefanski Gets Real Over Myles Garrett Impact for Cleveland Browns
As Myles Garrett chases the single-season sack record, the Browns' head coach, Kevin Stefanski, reflected on just how much his numbers have kept the Browns afloat.
“I think you guys have talked to Myles throughout this season – winning is the most important thing to him. That’s what he’s about, that’s what we’re about, that’s why we’re working so hard."
Garrett, with 22 sacks, is shy of just one sack to surpass the record for most sacks (22.5) in a season by a player. And 20 sacks came after the Week 6 loss against Pittsburgh. And it's worked so far, with the pass rush keeping offenses to just 163.8 passing yards per game, the second lowest in the league.

“The individual records and accolades and all those types of things that happen for our players, we want all of those things for our guys. It’s the greatest team sport there is, but these individual things highlight the individual, but they also highlight the individual within the framework of the team.”
However, it's been a tough fight in the last few weeks. Last night, against the Steelers, Garrett only managed a single tackle. And in Week 16, he only managed half a sack.
With just one more opportunity to get the record, Garrett wasn't disappointed. "I feel like they were more worried about keeping me away from Aaron [Rodgers] than getting the win, and I think that's what came back to bite him. So, they'll have to fight it out with Baltimore next week. But I'm just proud of the guys for fighting and getting this one. That's the main thing. And I'm always going to keep it that."
Despite Garrett not recording a sack, Kevin Stefanski was pleased with the team's win against the Steelers
This was the Browns' second game this season against the Steelers, and Garrett, once again, did not get a sack. And while getting the record with a sack on Rodgers would have been special, Stefanski was glad the defense managed to hold Rodgers at bay.
"Obviously, he shows up in the stat sheet in a bunch of different areas but even the things you don't see, how they have to play the game. I mean, they have to play an empty the entire game and chip both sides."
The pass rush kept Rodgers at 168 yards without a touchdown, improving their record to 4-12. Garrett will once again get his chance next week against the Ravens. Will he get the record? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
