Kevin Stefanski Finds New Home as Ex-Browns HC Commits to Matt Ryan's Project at Atlanta

It's official! Two-time AP Coach of the Year Kevin Stefanski has a new team to lead.

The team's owner, Arthur M. Blank, spoke about bringing Stefanski onboard.

"In Kevin Stefanski, we have found a coach with the right vision, focus and demeanor to lead our team into the future. From all our research and a wonderful visit with him tonight, I believe he is the right coach to take the talent on our roster to a new level..."

Stefanski will be joining Matt Ryan, the President of Football at the Falcons, who's also a new hire.

The former Browns coach replaced Raheem Morris, who spent 11 years with the franchise. Despite finishing a respectable 8-9 record this season, Morris wasn't able to take the team to the playoffs.

Kevin Stefanski was responsible for leading the Browns into the 2020 and 2023 playoffs and won the AP Coach of the Year award both years. It could be the right fit. He helped develop Baker Mayfield as a QB, and we could see something similar unfold here as well with Michael Penix Jr.

Accepting the new role, Stefanski said he is grateful and eager to start coaching the team.

“I'm beyond thrilled to be charged with leading this iconic franchise,” he said. “I am grateful to Mr. Blank and Matt Ryan for trusting me to coach this football team and there are many talented players on our roster that I cannot wait to coach.”

Could Kevin Stefanski Bring In Additional Talent From the Cleveland Browns?

Little over a day ago, when Kevin Stefanski had his second interview with the Falcons, Mary Kay Cabot reported he may be bringing Browns offensive coordinator Tommy Rees to the Falcons.

"Hearing that #Browns OC Tommy Rees might have a chance to join Kevin Stefanski wherever he goes. Stefanski is getting a 2nd interview today with the #Falcons."

While Rees interviewed for the position of head coach, it wasn't likely he would get the job, according to Cabot.

"My other little nugget today was the fact that I was told that Tommy, the Browns' offensive coordinator who was the first interview for this job, is not expected to get a second interview."

Do you think Rees should join Stefanski at the Falcons? Let us know in the comments!
