Kevin Stefanski Explains Controversial Call as Shedeur's Mother Rips Into Browns' Coaching Staff

After Week 14, the big rumor coming out of Cleveland is a rift in the locker room between the star QB and the head coach.
Shedeur Sanders clearly wasn't happy being out of the action in the 2-point call. However, the Browns head coach has a clear answer.
"Not going to get into all the specifics but obviously it did not go as we thought it would. I make every call. ... I'm responsible for all of it."

While Stefanski handed off play-calling duties to OC Tommy Rees after Week 9, he had decided on going for the Wildcat play while the team was moving forward with the drive with just a minute left on the clock.
It went wrong after Judkins mishandled the ball while rookie receiver Gage Larvadain ran in the opposite direction for a possible reverse. With no option left, Judkins ran backward and launched a last ditch attempt to Larvadain that didn't succeed.
It was Judkins' second such failure with the Wildcat formation, and while some were puzzled by the call, it was been the Browns' go-to in short-yardage situations. In these calls, Judkins has scored 4 touchdowns throughout the season.
The other option was giving Shedeur the ball. Considering his three passing touchdowns and rushing for another score, could the Browns have made it to overtime?
One member of the Sanders family certainly thinks so
Pilar Sanders, Shedeur's mother, wasn't happy, and she didn't hide the displeasure, in a now-deleted Instagram post. "You know, this f****** wildcat is b*******."
While Shedeur Sanders wasn't as vocal about his thoughts on the call, his unhappiness was quite clear.
"If I'm out there any play, I wish I would always have the ball in my hand. but that's not what football is..."
However, he immediately made support for the cal clear. "We practice for situations, we do everything, and if they knew it would pan out like that, I don't think they would've did it. I don't think in any situation, if we feel like something's not going to be as successful and intentionally call it and just be surprised if it don't work."
Perhaps it's this maturity that's led to Sanders gaining the starting QB role for the rest of the season. What do you think? Let us know in the comments!
