Josh Allen’s OT Nightmare Continues as Bills’ Super Bowl Dream Flat Yet Again

Jan 18, 2026, 2:18 AM CUT

The Denver Broncos have continued Josh Allen’s poor history with overtime. The Buffalo Bills are eliminated from the Divisional playoffs after a tough 30-33 loss against the Denver Broncos.

The 2024 MVP had never won in ‌overtime in his NFL career. Allen and Buffalo started the final quarter with a bang. While Cook was nearing 100 rushing yards, WR Khalil Shakir opened up the field with a 46-yard reception. At 13:24, Allen scored another touchdown with a 14-yard pass to Dalton Kincaid. The Bills lead by a point, with a score of 24-23.

Just moments later, Josh Allen nearly ended the game at 4:16. Shakir thought he had scored a touchdown, but it was deemed ‌incomplete, as the ball clearly bounced before. Once again, Prater increased the lead to three points, converting a 31-yard field goal. The Bills stuck with the safe option with four minutes to go, but the Broncos were relentless.

Nix scored his third touchdown with 55 seconds on the clock, with a 26-yard pass to Marvin Mims. Denver took the lead once again, making the score 30-27 in their favor. While Josh Allen and Co. made touchdown attempts thrice, they settled for a 50-yard field goal to go to overtime.

Unfortunately for him, the Broncos’ CB Ja’Quan McMillan intercepted the throw, which meant for Cooks at 7:55 in overtime. It was game over for the Bills after they conceded multiple costly penalties. Lutz converted the 24-yard field goal and went one step away from Super Bowl glory.

Multiple Turnovers Cost the Bills

Both Josh Allen and Bo Nix felt the pressure of the high-stakes divisional playoffs.

First, the Bills’ running back fumbled the ball in the second quarter, which resulted in a costly touchdown for the Broncos. Then, at the end of that same half, Allen once again fumbled the ball.

Allen conceded two more interceptions, including one in overtime, which ultimately decided the Broncos’ victory. His frustration was clearly evident after throwing the third interception.

As the possession went back to Denver, Allen was seen smashing his helmet in the dugout.
