Josh Allen Relation Could Force Philip Rivers Decision as Buffalo Bills Make Sixth Coaching Announcement

After a surprise NFL return, Philip Rivers' Buffalo Bills spot is all but confirmed.

According to a recent report by NFL expert Jarrett Bailey, Philip Rivers is set to join the Bills coaching staff even if he doesn’t become the head coach, partly due to their star QB.

“I’m told that even if he isn’t hired as the head coach, the Bills would like to have im on the staff in some way i.e. QBs coach. He and Josh Allen have a tremendous relationship and as far as seeing the game goes, few are better than Rivers.”

The reigning MVP did field and prep work with Rivers ahead of the 2018 NFL draft, where the Bills picked him seventh overall. Interestingly, back in 2020, when Josh Allen got his first playoff victory, it was against Philip Rivers, who played backup for the Colts at the time. But does that make him a good coaching candidate?

Well, Rivers has some experience. Before getting the call a few weeks ago from the Colts, Rivers was the head coach at St. Michael Catholic High School in Alabama. However, becoming head coach for the Bills will be a big leap. That's why a position like QBs coach could be suitable.

And who better than Rivers, who ranks all-time eighth in passing yards with 63,984 yards. With 425 touchdowns, he is ranked sixth in the league’s history.

But What Is The Bills' Status on Their Head Coach Hunt

In their search for a new head coach, as of Sunday, the Bills have interviewed Grant Udinski. The Jaguars’ offensive coordinator started his NFL career with the Panthers before working as the Vikings’ offensive coordinator.

They have also sat down with Miami defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver and the Commanders' Anthony Lynn.

Do you see the Allen-Rivers partnership happening anytime soon? Tell us how you feel about this development.
