Jimmy Haslam Gets Behind Browns Fans Over Frustrating Team Performances

Phoenix recently brought all NFL owners, executives and coaches together for the 2026 Annual NFL Meeting during March 29-31. The agenda of the meeting was to discuss playing rules, bylaws and resolution proposals.

Cleveland Browns owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam used the occasion to address fans' disappointment regarding the past seasons. They also opened up about their plans for the team’s future.

“I think we’d be amiss if we didn’t start by saying that we share our fans’ frustration. The last two seasons have not been good. We’re not fun to watch and we hadn’t won games,” said Jimmy Haslam at the 2026 NFL Annual Meeting.

Matthew Peralta, sportswriter for the Browns Nation, accepted that the Browns have gone through some rough lows in the past few years. This includes the 2024 upset when the team closed on a 3-14 record and was placed last in the AFC North.

Mike Battaglino, veteran NFL journalist, says via brownsnation.com that since 1999, after being reinstated in the NFL, the Cleveland Browns haven’t won once in their division. The historic franchise has made it to the playoffs four times amidst shuffling between coaches and quarterbacks, but never gained a win.

Understandably, the patience of the team's fans is wearing thin.

“And I just want to let the fans know that Dee and I, JW, Whitney, our entire organization, feel their pain and we’re 1,000 percent committed to getting this fixed and getting it right,” added Haslam. “And that’s easier said than done, the proof is in the pudding, but we are totally focused on getting this fixed.”

Over the past two years, the Browns have been fixing the gaps in their lineup. Measures like bringing in a new head coach, addressing offensive line needs during the Draft were taken.

The franchise also restructured contracts for more cap space, keeping Myles Garrett, organizing training camps, and more. Finally, they are eyeing new QBs in the upcoming 2027 QB-rich draft.

The Browns and their owners, Jimmy and Dee Haslam, are committed to bringing back Cleveland to all its glory. And to reward the Dawg Pound with what they've been waiting for all these years.

Addressing the elephant in the room about the QB1 competition

The most-talked-about topic among Browns fans and NFL insiders found another platform at the annual meeting. Jimmy Haslam was cautious while addressing the debate about the QB1 race between Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders.

As per Kelly Russo, staff writer at the Cleveland Browns, Jimmy Haslam felt that the competition is good for all. He also stated that now was a good chance for Watson to demonstrate his offensive mind, which is necessary for becoming a successful QB.

Haslam also admired Sanders' dedication to staying in Cleveland during the offseason and understanding what it takes to become an NFL quarterback.

Browns’ fans wait with bated breath about who the Browns choose as their QB1 for the 2026 NFL season.
