Jim Schwartz Reportedly Fuming After Browns Snub as DC Eyes Cleveland Exit

The Cleveland Browns chose Todd Monken as the new head coach over internal favorite Jim Schwartz. Now, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo has revealed how Schwartz reacted.
Garafolo explained that Schwartz was not at all satisfied after being passed over for the head coaching position. The situation has apparently strained the defensive coordinator's relationship with the team.
"#Browns DC Jim Schwartz was upset at being passed over for HC and told coaches he doesn’t plan on staying in Cleveland, sources tell The Insiders. Schwartz is under contract and the team wants him but it’s a situation that at the very least needs to be worked through," Garafolo wrote on X on January 28.
Jim Schwartz joined Cleveland as the defensive coordinator in 2023 and has done an incredible job. Despite the poor offense, the Browns’ defensive unit has been one of the best over the last three years.
Schwartz was in contention to become the Browns’ HC. Many fans thought he would become the coach, but the Baltimore Ravens' offensive coordinator was chosen.
Myles Garrett Reacted to Jim Schwartz Getting Snubbed
Garrett didn't seem satisfied with Todd Monken's appointment. He reacted by sending a cryptic message with an image while sharing a story. The picture included a disappointed person sitting sadly.
The 30-year-old had his best season under DC Schwartz. In 17 games played, Garrett recorded 43 solo tackles and broke the NFL's single-season sack record set by Michael Strahan and T.J. Watt, with 23 sacks.
Browns’ legend, Hanford Dixon, also didn't agree with the team's decision. stated that even though he respected Monken, Schwartz would have been a better option.
“If we’re gonna go that route (older HC), I would much rather see Jim Schwartz,” Dixon said.
