Jets Owner Woody Johnson Faces Massive Fan Backlash Over NFLPA Report Card Decision
The NFLPA's annual team report cards are gone. New York Jets owner Woody Johnson, who received a failing grade from his own players, reportedly led the charge to eliminate them. Now, he's facing a storm of criticism from a furious fanbase.
Johnson was the leading and most vocal opponent of the NFLPA report cards. And it came after he was the only owner to receive an “F” in the ownership category in the 2024-25 NFLPA report card. ESPN reported the same back in 2025, and Ari Meirov reiterated the same when he said:
"ESPN reported in November that #Jets owner Woody Johnson, who called the report cards “totally bogus,” was the one behind getting it stopped. Johnson received an F grade from his players last year. And now the report cards are going to be gone."
And after he reminded fans of what had happened, they rained down on the Jets boss.
"Worlds worst owner wants zero accountability. Makes sense," a fan said.
Johnson had raised an issue with the method of collecting the information and the sources involved, saying it should follow the league agreement with representatives from both sides to ensure the survey’s honesty.
"It's not balanced, it's not every player, it's not even representative of the players," he said. However, instead of changing the process, fans felt the NFL and the NFLPA took the easy way out, and they blamed Johnson.
That's why fans weren't convinced by his arguments and remain angry at the New York Jets owner.
Fans Rain Down on Woody Johnson
One user took a sarcastic tone in his comment, saying, "That should help free agents want to come to your team. Great job by a great owner." The Jets have historically had a difficult time signing star players and free agents. Players not getting a chance to suggest improvements through these report cards will be a sore point not just for free agents but also for existing stars. And for 2026, it could mean stars like Breece Hall could leave.
A user said, "This guy may be the worst owner in all sports. As a Bills fan I actually feel bad for Jets fans." While another commented, "Woody does not need a report card to know he is a terrible owner. Just look at the Jets since he's owned them and the terrible culture that he has never changed only made worse."
Since Woody Johnson took ownership of the New York Jets in 2000, the team has gone to the playoffs 6 times, the last one coming in 2010. That means the Jets have not made the playoffs in the last 15 years. "This is the most Jets thing I’ve ever heard. 💀" another comment read.
The team is already famous for 'Jets Tax', the idea that the franchise must overpay free agents to convince them to come to New York. This is not going to help them either. What do you think? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
