Jerry Jeudy Sends Out Strong Message for Shedeur Sanders Amidst Deshaun Watson Battle

The Browns' offensive side continues to be the focus of the OTAs, especially at the quarterback position. And amidst the QB1 battle between Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson, wide receiver Jerry Jeudy was impressed with Sanders’ progress during this offseason.

“Just being more comfortable, being more confident and that comes with repetition,” Jeudy told reporters on Wednesday. “Having that first year to that second year jump, you can see him out there on the field just being a lot more comfortable, confident and in command.”

David Latham of the Last Word on Sports reported that Sanders had an average rookie year. He completed just 56.6% of his passes for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns, and ended with a 44.1 PFF grade, the lowest in the league.

For 2026, Sanders is competing against Deshaun Watson, who made a comeback after more than one and a half years. Matthew Wilson of Dawgs by Nature reported that though Watson has the best chance of winning the starting job, Sanders’ outlook can’t be overlooked.

Quarterbacks Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel practice together at the Browns mini camp in Berea on April 21, 2026.

Wilson further added that the Browns’ wide receivers have been having good practice sessions during the OTAs with all four quarterbacks, i.e., Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel and Taylen Green.

WR Jerry Jeudy added that when it comes to catching passes, veteran Watson was the most consistent thrower. However, Sanders’ performance caught his attention during the OTAs.

Wilson shared that while Sanders has the physical tools to be successful, his mental aspect of playing the position and commanding the offense was yet to be seen. Jerry Jeudy’s comments about Sanders give proof of the 24-year-old’s capabilities.

Jeudy concluded by saying that he feels great about having a familiar starting QB for the upcoming season.

Jerry Jeudy Talks About QB Continuity with Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson

The Browns acquired Jerry Jeudy in a trade with the Denver Broncos in March 2024. Since then, the WR has been a witness to the changes made in Cleveland.

Per Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal, the Browns underwent coaching changes during the offseason by hiring head coach Todd Monken, offensive coordinator Travis Switzer and defensive coordinator Mike Rutenberg.

Despite this wave of changes, Jeudy shared that he finally has some stability at the QB position.

“Yeah, for a receiver, it’s always good to be able to have your quarterback consistent for years,” said Jeudy. “So that’s only going to help you build chemistry. So being able to have Deshaun and Shedeur back this year and Dillon, all those guys I played with last year, is a great feeling. You don’t get that too often.”

Jeudy responded with “about time” when talking about having a starting QB he’s familiar with for the 2026 season. Be it Sanders or Watson, the WR has played at least seven games with both QBs.
