The Cleveland Browns have changed how they plan to use one of their veteran wide receivers, making 2026 a pivotal season for him.

After a disappointing campaign last year, Jerry Jeudy now faces increased pressure to turn his talent into consistent production.

Addressing this on his podcast Say What Needs To Be Said With Asante Samuel, the Former All-Pro believed the clock could be ticking for the wide receiver.

Jeudy finished 2025 with 602 receiving yards and two touchdowns, a significant drop after he surpassed 1,000 yards the previous season. He will also move from the X receiver role to Z this year, giving him a different way to make an impact.

Samuel said, "Jerry Jeudy's time in Cleveland is slowly slipping away from him." He still praised Jeudy's route running as "exceptional", but questioned what happens once the routes are over. "Anything after running routes gets a little questionable."

He then summed up his concern with a blunt verdict: "That means he's not finishing plays."

Denzel Boston's emergence gives Browns another option

Meanwhile, Denzel Boston's emergence during training camp has played a major role in Cleveland's reshuffled receiver hierarchy.

The rookie has impressed enough to take over the X receiver role. This allows the Browns to move Jerry Jeudy to Z and look for ways to get their veteran receiver on the move.

That development could ultimately benefit Jeudy, but it also raises the stakes for him. Boston gives Cleveland another young option capable of handling a prominent role, so Jeudy needs to make the most of his opportunities.

If he can translate his route-running ability into more completed plays and production, the change could work in his favor. If not, Asante Samuel's warning could become increasingly relevant.
