Jared Goff meets his former team again in Gameweek 15, but his reaction is not what many people expected. His calm and distant approach changes how this reunion is viewed going into Sunday.

Goff said that facing the Rams no longer brings the feelings it once did, and he now views that part of his career as something far behind him. “It feels like a long time ago,” Goff said when asked the trade that happened 5 years ago. “My career now has spent more time here.”

He mentioned that the last time the game felt meaningful was the playoff meeting after the 2023 season, when the story still felt fresh. After that, he said each matchup carried less weight, and now the connection feels almost gone.

Even without emotion toward the reunion, Goff still studies the Rams closely on crossover film and respects how they are playing. He said he enjoys watching Matthew Stafford’s tape because of the way Stafford is performing. Goff said, “Playing really well, yeah, he is. He’s doing a good job. And we do get some crossover tape here and there, and he’s one of those guys you like to watch on tape. It’s good.”

When reporters continued asking about the Rams, Goff seemed surprised the topic was still being treated like a major storyline. He explained that his focus is on the Lions’ playoff push and not on revisiting old chapters.

He also talked about how different the Rams’ defense looks compared to his time there. He pointed out players like Jared Verse and Kobe Turner, who have become important parts of their unit. Goff said Chris Shula has shaped the defense into a stronger group than before, noting how much it has changed since he left.

Goff explained that the defense works together smoothly at every level of the field. He said, “They’re just all on the same page, they play really sound football. They’re really well coached from the backend, they’re really well coached from the second level, and the D-line gets after the quarterback. So, it’s a good recipe.”

As the Lions enter Gameweek 15, Goff treats this matchup as a high-stakes game but not a personal reunion. The history remains, but his mindset is centered on the present.
