Jalen Hurts Airs Frustrations as Eagles Crash Out As Offense Rattled Against 49ers

The Philadelphia Eagles failed in their quest to regain the Super Bowl, as they suffered a 23-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Eagles’ Jalen Hurts vented ‌his frustration after a disappointing performance. The Super Bowl-winning QB took all the blame on himself and stated they didn’t fight for the title as a team.

“I think competitively, everyone on our team had a great desire to win and achieve the ultimate goal, especially here right now, having everything in front of us. It was about winning and that’s something that we didn’t collectively do, and that starts with me, so I take it very personally on that.”

Talking about his performance against the 49ers, the 27-year-old scored only one touchdown for 168 passing yards. However, what’s even more concerning was his pass completion rate of just 57.1%. Although Hurts was sacked only once, his three consecutive incomplete passes in the last play changed the game.

This season, Hurts' numbers as a quarterback have been decent. In 16 games played, he has scored 25 touchdowns for 3224 passing yards, along with 8 rushing touchdowns for 421 yards, showcasing his dual-threat ability. However, their points per game this season (22.3) have gone down drastically compared to their title-winning season (27.2).

Jalen Hurts gets honest about Kevin Patullo

With a disappointing end to their season, a lot of fans are blaming the Eagles’ offensive coordinator. Hurts also had something to say regarding his coaching style and the decisions.

In the post-game press conference, the 27-year-old took a dig at Patullo, indicating that all is not right within the organization.

"No, the season has just gone the way it is. The approach this year, and the way the games have been called with this coordinator, it's just gone that way. I've taken it in stride and am giving my best with the position they've put me in."

Patullo joined the Eagles this season, and his negative impact has been clearly visible. They ranked 18th in rushing yards (116.9 PPG) and 23rd in passing yards (194.3). While they scored 29 rushing touchdowns in their title-winning season, the number drastically decreased this season, with just 17.

With a lot of questions being asked about him, it won’t be surprising if Patullo gets sacked in the offseason.
