"It just doesn't work" - Browns voice calls out Cleveland's approach to Deshaun Watson

The Cleveland Browns have struggled for offensive consistency, raising questions about their approach this season. Their run game faces scrutiny as they prepare to face the Tennessee Titans in Week 7.

Former Browns offensive lineman LeCharles Bentley discussed the issue on The Barbershop. He argued Todd Monken was trying too hard to keep Deshaun Watson "comfortable." According to the veteran, defenses in the NFL have adjusted to the shotgun-heavy approach and could anticipate Cleveland's running play.

Bentley explained that although the Browns' offensive linemen get into good positions for double teams, they have to hold their blocks for too long. He acknowledged that shotgun runs do work at times, but rejected the possibility of relying on them for every play:

"Now, is it, and can it be effective at times? Yes, it can be, but you're not gonna ever convince me that at this level, every single play, every single run is gonna be effective out of that bull shi*. It just doesn't work."

Bentley added that coaches must put players in the best position to succeed. He argued against shaping the entire offense around one player's preference.

Browns look to address offensive struggles against Titans in Week 7

Cleveland must improve its offensive execution against Tennessee. The Browns need a more reliable ground game, better protection, and greater consistency to sustain drives.

Deshaun Watson must help Cleveland find offensive balance, as defenses could anticipate runs from the formation. Tennessee recorded six sacks against Indianapolis in Week 6, while Cleveland has allowed 24 sacks through six games.

The Browns must protect Watson and establish a more effective run game to improve their chances in Week 7.
