Insiders Suggest Kevin Stefanski’s Browns Tenure Could End After Week 18
The Cleveland Browns’ head coach, Kevin Stefanski, hasn’t had a great time for the past two seasons. He has lost 26 games during that time and has won only 7.
And now, following another disappointing season, multiple insiders are reporting that the Browns might look to move on from the two-time Coach of the Year and are on the lookout for other options.
The Athletic’s Diana Russini has also cast a doubt regarding Stefanski’s future as the head coach. "The Cleveland Browns have done some background work to gather information on potential head-coaching options, and are leaning toward moving on from two-time Coach of the Year Kevin Stefanski.”
Not only did the report include Stefanski’s future, but it also included a verdict about vice president Andrew Berry as well. “With the success of EVP and general manager Andrew Berry’s most recent draft, he’s likely to stay, but those discussions are ongoing heading into Cleveland’s final game at the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday."
Cleveland got their fourth victory of the season last week against the Steelers, beating them 13-6. Rookie Shedeur Sanders is looking like he has finally found his groove, scoring a touchdown for 186 passing yards.
They will look to finish with some positivity around the group, taking their record to 5-12 for this season with a win.
Tony Rizzo picks Kevin Stefanski’s replacement for next season
With the possibility of Kevin Stefanski leaving the Browns becoming more and more clear, Tony Rizzo came up with a new name.
On the Tony Rizzo Show, he named the Indiana Hoosiers head coach, Curt Cignetti, as the next man. “You know who I want to coach the Browns? I would take Curt Cignetti right now. What a culture changer!”
Rizzo further listed the things he had to become the new Browns’ coach. “Here’s what you need: a proven winner, done. Culture changer, if that guy wins a national championship with Indiana, I’ll go to Indiana and pick him up,” he said.
Cignetti has done an excellent job with the Hoosiers, winning 25 out of 27 games in two seasons with a .926 record. Indiana will go against the Oregon Ducks in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on January 10. The winner will qualify for the Championship, which will be played on January 20.
