How the Browns Plan to Limit the Bengals’ Passing Attack in Week 18

After Week 1 this season, the Browns are back face-to-face with their division rivals, and Joe Burrow's form remains the biggest threat.

While the Browns currently stand at 4-12, the Cincinnati Bengals stand at 6-10.

When asked about their plans to curtail Burrow and Co.’s passing attacks, Stefanski called it a challenge his team has worked hard to face.

“Obviously, a great challenge going on the road versus a division opponent.”

“Saw them back in Week 1, which seems like a very long time ago, but they've changed, we've changed. Each week presents its own challenges, but this is a unit that's playing, if not the highest, at one of the highest levels on the offensive side of the ball,” Stefanski said.

For 1573 yards, Burrow has completed 144 out of 220 passing attempts and scored 14 touchdowns across seven games. In Weeks 16 and 17, he covered 300 passing yards consecutively.

In Week 1, when Burrow first played against the Browns in the 2025 season, he completed 14 out of 23 attempts for 113 yards and threw a touchdown.

The Browns, on the other hand, stand 29th for average passing yards with 170.3 yards and 16 touchdowns. They’ve recorded only 16.2 points per game. They have to limit Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins- the Bengals’ star wide receiver duo.

Stefanski plans on covering Chase and Higgins to limit their opponent’s passing game.

“So, we'll obviously always try to put our guys in position to go make plays. But it comes down to their players versus our players,” he said.

Browns vs Joe Burrow

The Browns can vouch for Myles Garrett to sack Burrow. Even though the star quarterback’s passing game has been steady, he has been sacked 15 times this year and twice by Garrett.

In Week 1, Burrow was toppled over thrice for an 18-yard loss. Burrow was tackled seven times, the last time he faced the Browns.

If the Browns’ defensive line, which has performed well this season, can create pressure and stop Burrow from making passes, they have a chance not only at winning but also enabling Garrett to match or surpass the record for most sacks in a season by a player.

Stefanski stated that he and the team are prepared to face the Bengals, drawing on their experience with them, and are looking to turn the tables this time.

“Looking forward to the challenge of going up against a Cincinnati Bengals attack – we know what that entails,” he said.

“Obviously, good players, good coaches, good scheme. They know us, and we know them, so we got a chance to try to even the series and finish strong.”
