NFL insider ESPN's Jeremy Fowler detailed the situation on SportsCenter, stating Cleveland would evaluate Watson through his performances rather than predetermined games.

Fowler said the Browns remain optimistic about Watson but will assess his progress from week to week, hoping for the best.

"They're optimistic, they want this to go well, but it will be performance-based. So they're not mapping out how long he's gonna play. They're just hoping for the best from week to week"

That approach gives Watson a bit more control over his future, and his performances will decide what lies in store for him.

Jeremy Fowler believes Cleveland could give Deshaun Watson some patience because of his lengthy layoff and the youth surrounding the QB1.

Watson has not played football in about two years, making his return a significant adjustment after such a long injury absence. At the same time, the Browns have a young offense that could also need time to find its rhythm around him.

"I suspect a little grace here for a few reasons. One, they got six players on offense that are either rookies or second-year players. So, they’re incredibly young on offense. And they know Deshaun Watson hasn’t played football in about two years, so they are expecting some level of rust," Fowler said.

Watson can expect an opportunity to settle in, but poor performances could still force Cleveland to reconsider its plans.
