Hope Not Lost for Shedeur Sanders as NFL Analyst Makes Bold 2026 Claim
A dark cloud hangs over Shedeur Sanders' future with the Browns, with GM Andrew Berry talking about looking into the QB market. But an NFL analyst has a different idea.
Many have argued that Sanders should be given another chance for some, if not the whole season. And NFL analyst Garrett Bush agrees. Talking about the rookie's future in the. Cleveland Sports Show, he noted that it was time the Browns learned from their mistakes.
The last season QB issue is what Bush highlighted. First came Flacco, then Gabriel, and then Sanders. So according to him,
“If we put our cards behind somebody for 2026 and it don’t work, guess what you get the opportunity to do?"
And it might seem justified that before the Browns go out seeking another option, they should be certain that the rookie is not a good fit for the team. He further clarified,
"If Shedeur played in 2026, they put everything around him, and it didn’t work out. There is no excuse for anybody, whether you support him or not, to say, ‘I see why the Browns have to go in 2027 and get a quarterback.'”
Shedeur Sanders did not have much opportunity in the 2025 season since the Browns started the season with Joe Flacco and Dillion Gabriel as their top QBs. It was only after Flacco was traded and Gabriel got injured that Sanders got his hands on the football.
And once given the opportunity, his performance was not upto the hype. He had a passer rating of 68.1 with 1,400 yards, 7 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in 8 games. But in his defense, he did not get any first-team reps as well when he debuted. And not everybody believes in him.
EPSN Analyst Tony Grossi said recently, "I think he'll compete. I think it'll be fair. I don't think he deserves to be handed the job…Andrew Barry's had 10 times he could commit to them, and he never has. He's not his advocate." But the question lies, if not Shedeur Sanders, then who?
Who Can Replace Shedeur Sanders in the 2026 Season?
The teams with the top 3 picks (Raiders, Jets, and Cardinals) in the 2026 NFL Draft need a QB. This makes drafting a top QB at pick number 6 very difficult for the Browns. But they sure can target a QB to trade, but who? Spencer Rattler, maybe.
Rattler had a passer rating of 86.5 with 1,586 yards, 8 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions in 9 games this season. The man comes with experience, having played 2 seasons for the Saints with 2,903 yards and 12 touchdowns to his name.
The Saints are most probably moving ahead with Tyler Shough as their next franchise QB. This is good for the Browns because Rattler is 5th round pick, so his asking price will likely be a day-three pick.
What do you think? Will you take Rattler over Shedeur Sanders or give the rookie another year to prove himself?
