“He’s more vocal” - Denzel Ward points out key difference between Jared Verse and Myles Garrett
Jared Verse has wasted little time making his presence felt in Cleveland. The defensive end has brought energy and a vocal presence to a Browns defense that has welcomed his arrival.
Verse arrived in Cleveland as part of the trade that sent former Browns star Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams. Denzel Ward recently discussed how the new arrival compares with the player he spent years alongside in Cleveland.
Speaking on The PFF NFL Podcast, Ward highlighted one clear distinction between the two defensive stars:
“Myles is a heck of a player, great player, but I think Jared? He's more vocal though. More of a vocal player, vocal leader out there for us.”
Ward’s comparison focuses on leadership style rather than ability. His comments suggest Verse has already carved out a distinct personality within Cleveland’s defense.
The DE has quickly established himself as a leader in Cleveland
Jared Verse has made his personality clear since arriving in the building.
Speaking on the same show, Denzel Ward said the defensive end immediately embraced a vocal role around his teammates. He pointed to Verse’s presence in meetings and on the practice field as evidence of those leadership skills:
“Since the first day he stepped in the building really just yelling, screaming and just making his mark out there in meetings and on the practice field kind of rallying guys.”
Ward also praised Verse’s approach to the game and his ability to rally his teammates. That leadership could prove valuable as the Browns continue building their defensive identity.
