"He’s a franchise QB": Dez Bryant drops blunt take on Shedeur Sanders trade rumors

The Shedeur Sanders buzz is heating up fast. Despite the Browns' ongoing QB1 battle, ESPN Cleveland's Tony Rizzo says teams are already calling about the rookie quarterback. As trade speculation grows, Dez Bryant has named two potential landing spots.

Bryant doesn't view the Sanders trade rumors as a negative sign. The former NFL star still believes Shedeur Sanders can be a franchise quarterback and even suggests he could thrive away from the Cleveland Browns.

“I think he’s a franchise QB and getting him out of Cleveland will be a plus for him,” Bryant said, as per Heavy. “The Saints would be a great fit for him! Arizona is a great fit as well.”

Shedeur Sanders throws at the Browns OTA in Berea on May 27, 2026.

However, as per Heavy, the New Orleans Saints may not be the best destination for Sanders, now that Tyler Shough is in the picture.

After being selected in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Shough started nine games. He finished his rookie season with a phenomenal 2,384 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, six interceptions, and a 91.3 passing rating.

However, the equation is exactly opposite when it comes to the Arizona Cardinals. The team is still evaluating its long-term quarterback situation, and Sanders could be the answer to their questions.

While there has been no official announcement from the Browns, the rumors are certainly gaining traction. And a growing number of insiders appear to support the idea of a Sanders trade.

LeSean McCoy believes Cleveland may not be Shedeur Sanders’ final stop

Last season was a bit of a hiccup for the young Browns QB. Shedeur Sanders played seven games in 2025, completing 56.6% of his passes for 1,400 yards, 7 TDs, and 10 interceptions. He had a 68.1 passer rating and added 169 rushing yards.

Despite the mixed numbers, analysts are with him amidst the trade rumors. While speaking with Emmanuel Acho on Speakeasy, McCoy made it clear that if Sanders leaves the Browns, greater opportunities could come his way.

“Let Shedeur Go. He’s a starter. His stardom ceiling is to the roof. The guy is that good. ’Cause he’s in Cleveland and they don’t win and they don’t do many good things in football. And you have Deshaun Watson, a guy who you owe all this money to, you’re not going to see Shedeur like we want to,” said McCoy.

McCoy explained that if Sanders is limited to only a few starts, his development could be stunted. That's why he believes Sanders would be better off with another team.

“Let him go to a team where he’s running the show. He’s still young in his second year, a fresh start for him would be excellent. The kid is a superstar in this league and needs an opportunity to show it,” McCoy concluded.

A number of analysts believe that a trade would do wonders for him, but what do you think? Should Sanders leave the Browns?
