“He gave everything he had” – Todd Monken opens up on Browns’ Luke Floriea decision

The head coach of the Cleveland Browns, Todd Monken, opened up about his conversation with Luke Floriea after the team let go of the wide receiver.

Floriea, who grew up near Cleveland, is a childhood Browns fan. He had a strong preseason and became quite popular with the fans. Despite that, Cleveland ultimately decided to release him.

He cleared waivers after being released by the Browns. However, he was not among the team’s initial 10 practice squad additions.

Monken was asked about his conversation with Floriea, and the former described it as being emotional. The Browns head coach also praised the effort the 24-year-old showed during his brief time with the team.

Floriea made an impression on the Browns during his short stint. His work ethic also appeared to earn the respect of the coaching staff and the fans alike.

Luke Floriea’s future remains uncertain after Browns exit

Luke Floriea now faces uncertainty after missing out on the Browns’ initial practice squad.

The wide receiver cleared waivers after Cleveland released him. That allowed him to sign with another team or potentially return to the Browns.

However, Cleveland opted not to bring him back immediately. The decision came despite Monken's praise for his attitude and work ethic.

The Browns coach also highlighted Floriea’s touchdown catches in the stadium during the preseason. While the player did not make the initial practice squad, Monken’s comments suggest he left Cleveland on good terms.
