“He does nothing”: Raiders fans divided over Tom Brady’s strong Raiders statement
The Las Vegas Raiders had a disappointing campaign last year, finishing with a 3-14 record. The 2025 season was the Raiders’ worst campaign since 2014, when they ended with a 3-13 record.
In response, the team’s minority owner and seven-time Super Bowl Champion, Tom Brady, called out the team for the collective failure on the Stick to Football podcast.
“Last year, we just underperformed in every area and it’s everybody’s fault. That’s the reality,” said Brady on 30 June. “There’s nobody who did a good job. There’s not one player in the organization, there’s not anybody involved that did the job to the level it needs to be done at. Everybody needs to improve.”
Brady blamed everybody from the front office to the players, even himself, for the disappointing finish last year.
“It starts with me, and it filters down to the rest of the players on the field. They’ve got to go out there and ultimately they’ve got to perform at a high level,” added Brady.
During the podcast, Brady revealed his expectations for the team for the 2026 season. From new head coach Klint Kubiak to rookie quarterback and 2026 NFL draft's No. 1 overall pick, Fernando Mendoza, he believed everyone needed to be efficient from the get-go.
“A massive improvement. I would expect daily improvement and I’d expect hourly improvement, I really would,” said Brady. “Like, a good team should be better at the end of the season than the beginning of the season, or you’re not a good team.”
Per Hugh Straine of the Las Vegas Raiders on SI, Brady bashed the franchise on all fronts. His brutal assessment of the Raiders has received mixed reactions from fans.
Raiders fans share mixed reactions to Tom Brady’s comments
Brady's comments calling out the Raiders for their 2025 performance on the podcast prompted Raiders fans to take to social media. Many such X users shared their reactions in the comments section under a post by the Raiders Post account that shared Brady's comments.
One fan called the former NFL quarterback for his hypocrisy, pointing to the various ventures he dabbled in.
“He was doing commentary, media and social events. Until he does nothing but Raiders football, I don’t wanna hear a word from him or about him,” they commented.
Others called out Brady for his role in the NFL, as a minority owner of the Raiders and also the lead NFL game analyst for Fox Sports. Given his expectation for “massive improvement” from the Raiders, fans raised questions about his absence on the field.
“He’s right. Does that mean he’s going to quit his part-time job and actually be around the team?” asked a fan about the veteran being present and sharing his expertise with the current players.
During the offseason, NFL owners voted on a succession plan for longtime owner Mark Davis. This led some fans to consider the possibility of the seven-time Super Bowl winner becoming the face of the franchise.
“Becoming more entrenched with the team. With Mark Davis planning his exit plan and being a minority owner, Brady will become the face of the Raiders in the future,” wrote a fan.
However, a section of fans agreed with Brady’s honest evaluation of the team’s 2025 season.
“This is the only way to address the situation. Head on, blunt and honest,” commented a X user.
Another fan simply wrote, “Great assessment by the GOAT.”
The mixed reactions highlighted the divide among Raiders fans, with many now eager to see if the team can live up to Brady’s expectations for the upcoming season.
