There seems to be a major shift in the Cleveland Browns’ team atmosphere following their Week 2 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, after an inspired showing by Deshaun Watson. That energy surfaced in a very unique manner during practice this week.

Daryl Ruiter, speaking alongside Jonathan Peterlin on 92.3 The Fan, described a moment that caught him off guard. Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing played as the Browns stretched before the staff lowered the music for their regular pre-practice huddle.

Instead of stopping, Cleveland’s players continued singing the song together. Ruiter said he was impressed and had never witnessed anything like it before while covering the team:

“The entire team just started filling in the lyrics in continuing the song before they did the huddle. I never saw that before. [..] Not staged or anything like that, and I was like, ‘That's actually pretty cool.’”

Peterlin then offered his interpretation of the change surrounding the team. He pointed to comments from Watson and the coaching staff about the Browns carrying a different energy this week:

“They have been stressing to us all week long, whether that's Deshaun or whether that's Todd Monken, but mainly Deshaun on Wednesday. They're like, ‘This is different vibes—the energy is high.’ I really do feel like he believes he changed something with that win on Sunday.”

The Browns Have Felt a Noticeable Change Around the Team

Browns head coach Todd Monken also addressed the unusual practice moment and praised the connection developing among his players.

“Pretty cool. I like our guys, the connection they have. They like being around each other, and I thought it was a pretty cool moment,” Monken said.

Cleveland will look to turn that newfound energy into another strong showing in Week 3.
