Harold Fannin Jr. Joins Elite Group of Rookie Tight Ends

Harold Fannin Jr. entered the NFL without much attention. He earned snaps through steady play and growing trust.

By the end of his rookie season, his production placed him among a rare group of tight ends who delivered early results at the position.

The Cleveland Browns' rookie has secured a place in league history. Since the NFL merger, only a small number of tight ends have reached 700 receiving yards and scored six touchdowns in their first season. Fannin is now part of that list, showing how fast he took to the professional game.

As of Week 17 of the 2025 season, Fannin had amassed 72 Reception yards of 731 yards and six touchdown receptions. There were 13 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown as well. His performance qualified him to be a Pro Bowl alternate. This ensured that the impact he was creating was of major proportions.

The player’s production also rewrote team history. A record for most receptions by a rookie was set by Fannin, as he surpassed Kevin Johnson’s previous record. The reception rate was an indication of how the offense had depended on this player.

A change at the quarterback position influenced his season. When Shedeur Sanders entered the lineup for Week 12, Fannin emerged as an integral piece of the receiving puzzle. During this period, he averaged nine targets per week and performed well on high-leverage plays.

In the 2025 class of rookies for tight ends, consistency of performance remained a rare factor. Harold Fannin Jr. and Tyler Warren recorded the only consistent performance for first-year tight ends.

Fannin is now the fifth rookie tight end since the merger to join Sam LaPorta, Keith Jackson, Charlie Young, and Evan Engram with at least 700 receiving yards and six scores.
