Despite the recent controversy surrounding the New York Giants’ quarterback, Jaxson Dart, everything looks normal in the Giants’ locker room. 

On Tuesday, Giants’ offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa posted a video on social media where he’s seen presenting a birthday gift to the QB who recently turned 23 on May 13.  

The gift, a Miami Hurricanes jersey, turned out to be a prank poking fun at Dart’s former team, the Ole Miss Rebels' defeat to Mauigoa and the Miami Hurricanes in last season’s college football playoffs in January. 

Per Kelly Coffey-Behrens of theblast.com, Jaxson Dart made a surprise appearance at an event at Rockland Community College on Friday. He was tasked with introducing President Donald Trump.

“I’m grateful, I’m honored, I’m pleased to introduce the 45th and the 47th President of the United States of America, President Donald J Trump,” announced the Giants’ quarterback on stage. 

The President then came on stage and greeted Dart and praised the young quarterback. He also reportedly called Dart a “future Hall of Famer”.

Dart's recent appearance received backlash from fans and also from one of his teammates, linebacker Abdul Carter. 

“Thought this s*** was AI, what we doing man,” Carter posted on X.

Carter later clarified on X that he and Dart had spoken and were still on good terms with each other.

As the New York Giants gear up for the 2026 season, this incident has raised fresh questions. However, rookie Mauigoa made it clear that it won’t hamper his equation with the quarterback.

The New York Giants have leaned into a youth movement and built a strong young core on both sides of the field. Dart is already the centerpiece of the franchise as their quarterback. 

Mauigoa has to carve out a name for himself after being the Giants' overall No. 10 pick during the 2026 NFL Draft. He didn’t shy away from pledging to shield the QB even if it demanded the ultimate sacrifice. 

“I’ll die by this s***, man. Man, I’m ready to die for you, man,” said Mauigoa to ESPN’s Laura Rutledge after being drafted.

The sentiment wasn’t lost on Dart, who expressed his happiness over the Giants’ securing him. 

“I was hype. I was yelling at the TV back to him,” Dart told reporters about Mauigoa. “He was the guy on the offensive line that I was hoping that we would be able to get. I was thrilled just to get the chance to play with him.”

With Dart and Mauigoa showing strong chemistry and trust, the Giants locker room looks confident with their team rebuilding strategy as they enter a new season.
