Giants QB Makes Huge Shedeur Sanders Promise to Deion Sanders
The Cleveland Browns’ rookie QB Shedeur Sanders has certainly impressed many, and Giants QB Jameis Winston has a message for his father, Deion Sanders.
The veteran quarterback made a bold promise about the future of Prime Time's son during Super Bowl week in San Francisco.
While talking about Cleveland’s number 12, Winston said, "He with me. I'm gonna keep sending him voice messages & looking him up. Thank you for blessing us with a son that will be a QB at the top."
Winston and Shedeur have known each other for a long time. They both played for the Florida State Seminoles in college. Since then, the former Pro Bowler has always been vocal about his likeness for him.
While they are currently in different NFL teams, Winston gave him the credit even when he was in Colorado for changing the culture at the Buffaloes during the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
“As a quarterback, for you to change the whole culture of your team and to go out there and put in great games one game after a time,” Winston said on The Rich Eisen Show in November of 2024.
Not only that, but he also praised Shedeur’s talent at such a young age. “Shedeur Sanders is playing some of the most elite football that I’ve seen from a college perspective.”
As per the Browns’ new head coach, Todd Monken, the quarterback spot hasn’t been sealed yet. Shedeur will look to make that position his own come next season.
Analyzing Shedeur Sanders' Rookie Season
Shedeur Sanders had an underwhelming rookie season. He wasn't the Browns' first choice as a quarterback, originally getting assigned as QB3.
After Joe Flacco got traded to the Bengals and another rookie QB, Dillon Gabriel, got injured, the 24-year-old started the remaining games.
In seven games that he started, Shedeur scored 7 touchdowns and threw for 1400 yards. However, he needs to improve after throwing 10 interceptions and taking 23 sacks.
Although it was a controversial decision, Shedeur got his first AFC Pro Bowl selection as well, replacing the Super Bowl-bound Drake Maye.
