From Brissett to Sanders, Browns QBs Own Steelers on Cleveland Turf

The Pittsburgh Steelers will finish their sixth consecutive season with a winning record. However, if there’s one thing they have failed to do, it is to topple the Cleveland Browns on their home turf.

They suffered a 13-6 loss against Kevin Stefanski’s men at the Huntington Bank Field. This was the Pittsburgh Steelers’ fourth consecutive loss in Cleveland, in which they failed to score a single touchdown.

Let’s take a look at the quarterbacks' performances in each of these four victories:

Jacoby Brisett - 2022

The Browns played against the Steelers in Week 3 of the 2022 NFL season and claimed a comfortable 29-17 victory. This was one of Brissett’s best performances that year, scoring 2 touchdowns for 220 yards. He was efficient in his passing as well, conceding 0 interceptions and being sacked just twice.

He scored a touchdown in the first quarter, giving Cleveland the lead. The now-Arizona signal caller earned a passer rating of 109.6, completing 21 out of 31 passes. In that season, Brissett scored 12 touchdowns for 2608 passing yards in 16 games.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson - 2023

Rookie QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson’s performance wasn’t as impactful against Pittsburgh in the 2023 season. But it was enough to defeat them, as the Browns registered a gritty 13-10 victory in Week 11 at the Huntington Bank Field.

He completed 24 out of 43 passes and didn’t score any touchdowns in the game. Dorian threw for 165 passing yards and conceded an interception and a sack. Despite a poor passer rating of 54.9, the Browns' defense rose ‌to the occasion and clinched a win.

Jameis Winston - 2024

The now-New York Giants QB, Jameis Winston, moved the chain expertly against the Steelers in Week 12 of the 2024 NFL season. Despite not scoring a single touchdown, the Browns won this game by 24-19 and registered their 3rd consecutive win at home turf.

Winston threw for 219 passing yards in this game and conceded an interception and a sack. He completed 18 out of 27 passes, with a passer rating of 76. He did record a rushing touchdown in the 4th quarter, rushing for 7 yards in 3 carries. Although their happiness didn’t last long, as Pittsburgh avenged their loss with a win just a couple of weeks later.

Shedeur Sanders - 2025

This was another tight game that went in favor of the Browns, with rookie Shedeur Sanders as QB. In the seventh start of his career, the son of Deion Sanders threw for 186 passing yards and scored a touchdown.

Although he did concede an interception and was sacked twice, the Cleveland defense once again stepped up to claim a 13-6 win over the Steelers. This was the most important one, as it leaves Aaron Rodgers and company to fight with the Ravens for the last playoff spot in Week 18.
