42-year-old Aaron Rodgers sent unsettling verdict on his final NFL run
The league’s oldest active quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, is under immense pressure, perhaps the most he has ever been. The Pittsburgh Steelers starter has said that this season is his final run in the NFL, which raised the stakes this year.
“NFL analyst Rich Eisen has named him the QB under the most pressure, emphasizing that while Rodgers’ legacy is secure, there's a desire to win one last title,” BMV Sports reported on June 19.
Rodgers is a curious case of longevity and Super Bowl campaign in the NFL. Having played for the Green Bay Packers for most of his 21-year-old career, Rodgers has become one of the most-well known quarterbacks.

Yet, he has just one Super Bowl title to his name.
He won his first and only Lombardi Trophy in 2011 when he won the Super Bowl XLV with the Packers. He was declared the game’s MVP and has won four NFL MVP awards overall trailing behind Payton Manning.
Rodgers, 42, is entering his 22nd season and has played for the New York Jets between 2023-24 and then the Steelers last year. In recent years, the QB’s otherwise efficient performances took a hit due to a series of consistent injuries.
“Historical trends show that many legendary quarterbacks struggle to conclude their careers successfully, raising the stakes for Rodgers as he reunites with former coach Mike McCarthy in Pittsburgh,” the analysis read.
A series of injuries plagued him during his time with the Jets. Rodgers then suffered multiple hairline fractures last year. He did not gain any passing yards or touchdowns in 2023.
He churned out 3,322 passing yards for 24 passing TDs in 2025.
“The Steelers are not universally seen as Super Bowl contenders, further intensifying the narrative around Rodgers’ last chance,” the report further read.
While there are doubts surrounding his capabilities this season, another report suggests Rodgers is taking charge head-on.
Aaron Rodgers’ leadership role in the Pittsburgh Steelers locker room revealed
Rodgers has had a long and successful NFL career which many aspire to. Now, in his last NFL season, he has taken up the role of a strict mentor in the Steelers.
“It was cool, but you gotta be on the same page,” said Darnell Washington. “Just playing with him and just his ball knowledge of pressures and checks, and it’s a 1000 things he has to check. So you got to make sure you’re paying attention for one and just being on the same page, and he for sure gonna quiz you too, though.”
Washington was sharing his experience of playing with Rodgers on the Not Just Football with Cam Heyward show. He also revealed that Rodgers holds player-only meetings to assess themselves.
The Steelers have rookies like Will Howard and Drew Allar, whom Rodgers is set to mentor this year. Will the pressure of making this year a memorable one crack him? Or will Rodgers exit the NFL on a ceremonious note?
