Former Browns QB Johnny Manziel Reveals Wild Game Day Routine

Johnny Manziel and his short-lived NFL career remain one of football's most infamous cautionary tales. The former Cleveland Browns quarterback arrived with enormous expectations after winning the Heisman Trophy at Texas A&M. However, off-field controversies, substance abuse issues, and inconsistent performances ultimately derailed his promising career.

Manziel's latest revelation offers another glimpse into the chaos surrounding his time in Cleveland. Speaking on the Glory Daze podcast, he recalled an extraordinary game-day routine involving former Browns teammate Josh Gordon. Despite having a noon kickoff, Manziel would reportedly leave the team hotel at 5 a.m. and head to his apartment with Gordon.

Once there, the pair would play FIFA while smoking marijuana for hours. Manziel described the bizarre routine candidly, admitting that he would do this before games despite serving as Cleveland's backup quarterback.

“We would go to my building. We would turn FIFA on, and we would rip the f*****g bong all morning and smoke a blunt.”

Manziel also recalled that Gordon would sometimes play, while he remained on the bench. The revelation offers another glimpse into the off-field issues that overshadowed his time in Cleveland, when the Browns desperately hoped he would become their franchise quarterback.

Johnny Manziel's Las Vegas Trip Nearly Ended His Browns Career

This was far from the only bizarre episode during the tenure of Johnny Manziel in Cleveland. In December 2015, he was supposed to attend mandatory concussion treatment but instead travelled to Las Vegas.

Manziel later admitted to partying at a Las Vegas nightclub while disguised with a blonde wig, fake mustache, and glasses. He reportedly used the name "Billy" while out with friends. The trip drew further scrutiny after he missed the required treatment and initially failed to respond to the Browns.

The incident further damaged his standing with the organization. After previous disciplinary issues, the Browns released Manziel in March 2016, bringing his turbulent NFL career in Cleveland to an end.
