The NFL community is mourning former Buffalo Bills offensive lineman Jordan Devey, who tragically passed away at age 38, leaving teammates, fans, and family heartbroken.

A GoFundMe set up by the family revealed that Devey “took his own life.” His wife, Linsey Devey, also shared a heartbreaking image of him in a hospital bed on Instagram, along with a painful admission of her pain.

"Today would have been our 15th anniversary," Devey's wife, Linsey, wrote in a post on Instagram on July 24. "We have filled the walls of our homes and hearts with countless memories, joys, struggles, and triumphs.”

After spending eight seasons in the NFL, the veteran is survived by his wife, Linsey, and their four children. In an emotional farewell, Linsey bid her husband a final goodbye via an Instagram post, remembering him as a loving partner.

“We brought 4 beautiful children into this world that have your eyes, freckles, and compassion. You were our hero, and our hearts ache in your absence. We love you. We miss you. And as you said in your last words to me, 'we'll talk soon',” wrote Linsey.

The family is battling a tragic loss and mounting financial burdens, which have led them to seek $200,000 through a GoFundMe shared by Linsey on Instagram.

So far, the fundraiser has raised approximately $81,000.

Before carving out his NFL legacy, Devey starred at both Snow College and Memphis. Although he went undrafted in 2013, he defied the odds to win Super Bowl XLIX with the New England Patriots before a 2015 trade sent him to the San Francisco 49ers.

Following his time with the 49ers, Devey joined the Kansas City Chiefs in 2016, where he spent three seasons. Although he was a part of the practice squad, Devey still appeared in 17 games and made four starts before injuries slowed him down.

The veteran later spent one season with the Las Vegas Raiders before saying goodbye to his NFL career with the Bills in 2020.

By the time he retired, the veteran had compiled 45 combined regular-season and playoff appearances across an eight-year NFL career.

His demise has certainly left the NFL world in shock. Even the very team he was about to coach couldn't help but shed tears.

Earlier this year, Devey was announced as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Eagle High School in Eagle, Idaho.

However, his untimely passing has left the school community heartbroken. The team paid tribute to the veteran on its Instagram page through a long message and offered condolences to his family and loved ones.

“Our community has lost an incredible mentor, coach, and friend, but his legacy will continue to live on through the generations of young athletes he inspired. Jordan, thank you for everything you gave to Eagle and to youth sports. You will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and never forgotten. Rest easy, Coach,” wrote the school.

Although Devey is gone, his legacy will forever endure through his loved ones. As the NFL world mourns the heartbreaking loss, we too remember the veteran with heavy hearts.
