With a 5-12 win-loss record this season, the Browns should make decisions quickly for their QB1 position.

Sports media veteran Daryl Ruiter nominated two surprising names solve the Cleveland Browns' quarterback problem for the 2026 season.

"Forget Deshaun, forget Shedeur, forget Dillon Gabriel, go after the top guys in free agency and make Daniel Jones, once he heals up, or Malik Willis, your starting quarterback next year."

Daniel Jones was on a 1- year, $14 million contract with the Indianapolis Colts for the 2025 season. Malik Willis had signed a $5.16 million, 4-year rookie contract (2022–2025) with the Green Bay Packers.

What this means is that if the Colts and Packers do not make a move, both teams will be available for the team to select in the 2026 season. Given the numbers they have recorded through their performance, it is highly likely that the Browns will try to get them.

Jones had a passer rating of 100.2 with 3,101 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions in 13 games this season. Unfortunately, he suffered a torn Achilles in December and was ruled out for the rest of the season. But these numbers also mean the Colts would not let him go easily.

Chances are better with Willis since he was the backup QB for the Packers. He had a passer rating of 145.5 with 422 yards and 3 touchdowns in 4 games this season. He also rushed for 123 yards and recorded 2 rushing TDs.

The Browns Can Make a Trade to Replace Shedeur Sanders

Since Shedeur Sanders failed to lift the Browns' offense, as they finished 31st in passing yards per game at 165.2 yards per game, they might want to bring in a QB via trade.

Spencer Rattler is a player that they can. He was replaced by Tyler Shough as the Falcons struggled to win a game. Atlanta now seems to be moving ahead with Shough, which makes Rattler available for a likely price of a day-three pick.

He had a passer rating of 86.5 with 1,586 yards, 8 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions in 9 games this season.
