For God's Sake: Todd Monken Responds After Shilo Sanders’ Public Spat With Browns Reporter

Cleveland Browns coach Todd Monken recently had to step in to stop a big spat, one that involved Cleveland's in-house reporter, Mary Kay Cabot, and QB Shedeur Sanders' brother, Shilo Sanders. The two recently got into an altercation, and Shilo had blasted Cabot for showing her bias towards Shedeur's teammate, Deshaun Watson.

Recently, Todd Monken appeared on the 92.3 The Fan radio show to speak his mind. The idea was clear: he wanted his players to steer clear of controversy.

"So that’s part of what we do. But if that’s going to bother me or it’s going to bother Shedeur or Deshaun, they have no chance of being either the head coach here or the quarterback at the Cleveland Browns. I mean, for God’s sake, it’s the world we live in."

As the new head coach, Monken has been firm about keeping "outside noise" away from the locker room. He noted that if social media comments bother his quarterbacks, they aren't cut out for the pressure of the NFL.

The rumors around who will be the team's starting QB after Deshaun's return have become the talk of the town. Shilo Sanders, however, reached a breaking point when Cabot implored the Browns to "cook" with naming Watson the starting QB.

His temper got the better of him, and he ended up dissing Cabot with an unflattering jibe.

“Go make a sandwich, Mary."

This was it for Cabot, who wasn't going to let this slide. The veteran reporter revealed she has held her own in this male-dominated field of football since starting work in 1991. Moreover, she was sly enough to praise her sandwich-making skills as well.

Ironically, the player around whom all this drama was unfolding chose to stay aloof from the matter.

Shedeur Sanders Welcomes Healthy Competition

When everything around looked shaky, Shedeur Sanders chose to take the higher ground. Taking to X, this is what he wrote.

"Let’s focus on what truly matters in life, and bring others along so we can elevate each other mentally, physically, and spiritually.”

Shedeur knows the challenge is ahead of him and wants his performance to speak for him. This also happens to be the second straight year Sanders has faced so much attention on the future of his career.

Last year, it was the same situation where he had to endure quite a lot of negativity. He was the subject of intense scrutiny. People were quick to latch on to his falling NFL stock and accusations of arrogance.

With the QB competition and this new spat involving his brother, Shedeur Sanders has a lot on his mind. However, he seems to be focused on his performance rather than the outside noise.

Do you think Cabot is biased towards Watson?
