The Las Vegas Raiders could look to add another proven receiving weapon before the 2026 season as they continue building around rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza. One analyst believes the Cleveland Browns' crowded wide receiver room could present that opportunity.

With Cleveland investing heavily in young pass catchers this offseason, Jerry Jeudy has emerged as a potential trade candidate. FanSided's Ernesto Cova believes the veteran could be an ideal fit for a Raiders offense looking to support its young quarterback.

"The Las Vegas Raiders are entering a new era. Rookie No. 1 pick Fernando Mendoza may not play at first, but with an offensive-minded head coach like Klint Kubiak, they will still need more weapons," wrote Ernesto Cova.

Cova's suggestion on FanSided comes at the perfect time. Even if Mendoza spends time growing behind a veteran, the Raiders must keep their QB with an experienced talent. Jeudy is still one of the best receivers on the Browns' roster.

His numbers back in 2024 were strong. He recorded 90 catches, 1,229 yards, and four touchdowns. Then 2025 happened, and things fell off to 50 catches, 602 yards, and two touchdowns.

Cleveland has not been sitting still, though. The team kept adding young receivers in the draft, guys like KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston. That means more competition for snaps.

With Jeudy, Concepcion, and Boston all expected to compete for significant roles under Todd Monken, Cleveland suddenly has more viable receiving options than starting spots, creating the possibility that Jeudy could become expendable in the right trade.

New head coach Todd Monken is putting his own stamp on the offense. So naturally, people are asking where the veterans fit into all of it.

Money-wise, Jeudy is not going anywhere cheap. He signed a three-year extension in 2024 worth $52.5 million, with $41 million guaranteed and an average salary of around $17.5 million a year, per Spotrac.

Here is where it gets interesting, though. Jeudy might end up being a key piece in Mendoza's growth as a quarterback, being a combination of a young passer and veteran receiver.

Training camp is coming up fast. And with two rookie wideouts already expected to play real snaps, the Browns' receiving room looks like it could be one of the more competitive spots on the roster this summer.

Denzel Boston could push Jerry Jeudy into an uncertain role

The Browns invested heavily in upgrading their passing attack during the 2026 NFL Draft by selecting KC Concepcion in the first round and Denzel Boston in the second.

"... Boston might be closer to being a Week 1 starter," wrote Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report. "The bigger Boston projects as a strong perimeter complement opposite Jerry Jeudy, which would most likely put Concepcion in the slot."

If Boston claims a starting role early, Cleveland could face tougher decisions about how it distributes snaps among its veteran and young receivers. That could leave Jeudy's long-term role under greater scrutiny despite his experience.

If Cleveland's young receivers develop quickly during training camp, Jeudy could become one of the more intriguing veteran trade candidates available, giving Las Vegas another potential option as it builds around Fernando Mendoza.
