ESPN NFL Draft Analyst Matt Miller is on the road to recovery after he revealed on X on Tuesday that he had been involved in a serious car accident. The NFL reporter is a year-round draft analyst who’s been with ESPN for five years.

The accident took place on 17 June when Miller, who was driving a Ford Bronco, collided with a semi-truck on Highway 17 in Jasper County. Miller took to X again on Friday to share an update on his next steps in recovery.

“Today’s surgery is a big one,” wrote Miller. “To find out if my shoulder can be reconstructed in order to support a prosthetic arm. Your continued thoughts and prayers are so appreciated.”

After the accident, Miller had to be airlifted to Mercy Hospital. The 42-year-old had posted on X on Tuesday morning, revealing the extent of his injuries. 

“As a result of the accident, I sustained significant injuries, including multiple fractures and broken ribs. I also underwent a life-saving amputation of my left arm,” posted Miller. “While I have a long road ahead, I’m focused on my recovery and taking things one day at a time.”

Miller was previously Bleacher Report’s lead NFL draft writer from 2010 to 2021 and joined ESPN in 2022. Following the accidents and hospitalization, he revealed his plans to return to ESPN on X.

“I look forward to continuing my recovery and getting back to ESPN to talk football, including what could be an exciting 2027 NFL Draft class.”

Fans of the NFL Reporter commented under Miller’s social media updates on X to send prayers and wishes. 

A section of fans sent prayers for Miller’s successful surgery and speedy recovery.

“Sending prayers and love to you. Stay positive, it will work out just fine," commented a fan.

Another fan wrote, "You got this, brother. All prayers and good thoughts your way."

A few fans tried to motivate Miller to receive a prosthetic arm.

“‘They can rebuild him!’ You got this, robo-dude!” wrote a fan.

Another fan commented, saying, “Matt, really hoping for a good recovery. Have you shared what happened that caused you to cross the center line? Being transparent about that may bring awareness to help others avoid a similar mistake. Wishing you the best."

A fan spoke from their own experience and assured Miller of getting back on track soon.

“I had 4 full surgeries trying to reconstruct my arm about 10 years ago after an Iraq injury, so I legit know what you are going through. Being real, the 18 months of physical therapy... but it will get easier,” shared a fan. 

While many fans acknowledged the challenges ahead for Miller, the overwhelming response was one of encouragement and optimism.
