Fans Left Surprised After Dolphins Rookie Makes Surprising Career Decision Post Draft
Le’Veon Moss retired from the NFL just four days after signing with the Miami Dolphins. The former Texas A&M standout cited persistent injury struggles for his decision. His exit leaves Miami searching for depth as the 2026 offseason continues.
The Dolphins signed Texas A&M running back Le’Veon Moss on Friday. As reported by Owen Crisafulli, Moss was brought in to be a backup support for De’Von Achane. However, just four days later, Moss was placed on the injured/retired list.
“Roster Move | We have placed running back Le’Veon Moss on the reserve/retired list,” announced the Miami Dolphins on their official page on X.
Later, NFL insider Ari Meirov also announced Moss’ retirement on his X account.
Sportswriter Andrew Olson of the Saturday Down South reported that Moss' decision to retire from the NFL is mainly because of health issues.
In the four seasons (2022-2025), he played a total of 32 games. Having sustained multiple injuries, the 23-year-old RB could never play more than nine games in a season.
Carter Karels of On3 shared that Moss suffered a hamstring injury in 2023, a torn ACL/MCL in 2024, and an ankle injury in 2025.
In his final year with the Aggies and now possibly his last year of playing professional football, Moss recorded 404 yards and six TDs on 77 attempts. He managed these numbers in only seven games.
In the few days after signing, Moss’ sudden exit from the NFL has left the Dolphins with five running backs- De’Von Achane, Jaylen Wright, Ollie Gordon II, Donovan Edwards, and Anthony Hankerson. Now, the fans have expressed their concerns over the situation.
Fans Express Concern for Le’Veon Moss Over His Retirement From the NFL
Fans of Le’Veon Moss took to X and commented under both the Miami Dolphins’ and NFL insider Ari Meirov’s posts.
Most of the fans sympathized with the running back, speculating his injuries to be the reason for his retirement.
“Wow, at the same time. A player’s health is the most important. It was reported he had an injury history with staying healthy during a season,” commented a fan.
Another fan voiced agreement with Moss’ injury history.
“Probably something turned up in the medicals we may never know,” they wrote.
Some spoke about how the numbers on paper were promising, but injury woes led to an unfortunate story.
“Sadly a career derailed with injuries. Best of luck to whatever the future holds for him,” wished a fan under Meirove’s post.
One fan specifically pointed out a serious injury suffered back in 2024.
“The ACL/MCL tear in 2024 took a lot out of him-both physically and mentally. Wishing him the best,” remembered a fan.
Some fans spoke about the reality surrounding football careers as well.
“Football careers can change direction so quickly. Wishing Le’Veon Moss the best in whatever comes next,” wrote a fan.
For Moss, the NFL journey ended almost as quickly as it began in Miami. While the Dolphins continue reshaping their roster for 2026, fans were left reflecting on how injuries ultimately cut short what once looked like a promising career.
