Fans Furious With Ravens GM's Response for Backing out of Maxx Crosby Trade

Mar 12, 2026, 4:47 PM CUT

Maxx Crosby's trade cancellation creates a problem for Eric DeCosta and the Ravens.

The Baltimore Ravens stepped out of the agreement at the eleventh hour regarding a pre-existing knee issue for the star pass rusher.

To clarify all of this, DeCosta called out a press conference on Wednesday.

“I understand it. We live in that age of skepticism and people question… I have a responsibility to the Ravens. Nobody is more upset about this than me. Gutted by it, actually. A regret," he said.

However, Maxx Crosby has been a player who never disappoints.  In his 7-year stint with the Las Vegas Raiders, he recorded 439 overall tackles,69.5 sacks, and 11 forced fumbles.

Because of his torn meniscus in his left knee during his match with the Chiefs back in 2025. Unfortunately, that was enough to create a doubt in the Ravens’ mind, as Crosby just had surgery in early January this year.

Fans haven't been welcoming of the Ravens' decision after letting someone go who could literally improve their defensive unit.

How did fans react to the cancellation of the trade?

The sudden decision felt confusing and outrageous for fans, and many suspected that a medical justification was just a cover-up story for poor negotiation.

While some pointed out bringing another edge rusher to the game, the Cincinnati Bengals' defensive end, Trey Hendrickson.

One fan posted on X. “So much of a regret he had Hendrickson in the building at the same time?” “Right, dude. Dirty. 🤮🤮🤮”

Although the sudden realisation about Crosby's knee health raises a lot of doubts for the fans watching the whole process, “No way they learned anything 'new' on the knee,” another user wrote. “They had all the info before agreeing. Shady SHADY.”

Some supporters raised concerns that this failure might create a dent in the franchise's image. A franchise  supporter shared his words, “Still gives the fact the multiple teams will never deal with the Ravens again, Have fun, Ravens trying to offload contracts.”

And a large number of Fans calling this conference a self-serving act, “The only reason he called an emergency press conference was to try to save face,” While another said the same thing differently via X, “What does he 'regret' exactly?”

What do you think the decision will be, a fruitful future or just a regret for Ravens? Let us know in the comments!
