One charge has been dropped against James Pearce Jr., but that doesn't mean that the Falcons LB can breathe a sigh of relief.

He will still be tried for 3 more.

The prosecutors dropped the charge of aggravated battery against the NFL star. They felt that there wasn’t enough evidence on the body cam to charge him with that felony. This might be good news, but it's so little. James Pearce Jr. still faces 3 felonies.

On the day of his arrest, the authorities charged him with five counts, which included charges related to armed violence, stalking, fleeing, and eluding police officers, and another count involving a law enforcement officer. The aggravated stalking charge was changed to a misdemeanor.

Pearce's legal team told ESPN on Thursday in an email that it stands by its original statement. After his arrest, they said Pearce "maintains his innocence and urges the public to understand that while allegations have the power to shape a narrative, it is hardly the full, complete story."

Miami-Dade police arrested James Pearce Jr. on Feb 7, 2026, after an incident involving his ex-girlfriend. In the past, police in Florida responded to at least seven 911 calls from November until the day of Pearce's arrest. All of them involved Pearce and his ex-girlfriend.

On February 7th, he was allegedly following the ex-girlfriend's car in a white Lamborghini SUV. The reports say he even tried to open her car door while she was stopped at a red light. As per the ex-girlfriend, she tried to drive to the Doral Police Department headquarters. But Pearce Jr. allegedly hit the back of her car with his Lamborghini.

She said he then blocked her vehicle, and when she tried to reverse to escape, he drove into her car from the front. Police reports claim that they found the Falcons star out of his vehicle when they arrived on the scene and drew weapons on him. Despite that, he did not cooperate.

Reports say that he got back into his car and drove away as the police tried to open the door. He ultimately crashed the car during the subsequent chase. After that, he fled on foot, where police caught him. After that, Pearce resisted arrest as per the police reports.
