Falcons Continue HC Search as Kevin Stefanski Aims for Raheem Morris' Empty Seat
Kevin Stefanski should be looking for a new place since the Cleveland Browns fired him, and that place could be the Atlanta Falcons.
The Falcons finished 8-9 in both of Raheem Morris’s two seasons as head coach, missing the playoffs both times. As a result, the team fired Morris and is now looking for a new head coach.
Kevin Stefanksi is the latest name to come forward as their potential HC after the team announced that they interviewed him. The big question: Will he be good for them?
His last two seasons with the Browns definitely were bad, but he also took the team to their first playoff berth since 2002 and the franchise’s first playoff win since 1994. Under Stefanski, the Browns posted 11-win seasons in both 2020 and 2023.
Those were the only times in franchise history a head coach has recorded multiple 11-win seasons since 1951-53. On top of that, he has also won the NFL Associated Press Coach of the Year twice (2020 and 2023). So he is not a bad choice.
Other than him, the Falcons have also interviewed Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver.
Who else has Kevin Stefanski interviewed with?
So far, the former Browns head coach has interviewed with the Tennessee Titans, the Las Vegas Raiders, the New York Giants, and, most interestingly, the Baltimore Ravens.
The Ravens have fired John Harbaugh, and the Browns are reported to be in constant pursuit of the Super Bowl-winning coach. If the Browns succeed and the Ravens also hire Stefanski, the situation in the AFC North will be very interesting.
