“Excuse my French” - Jared Verse unloads on Steelers after the Browns win
Jared Verse was involved in a heated exchange with the Steelers after Cleveland’s 27-24 win. The Browns defensive lineman explained what he told Pittsburgh players.
The AFC North rivals played an intense Week 4 matchup. That intensity continued after the final whistle, with Verse making his feelings clear.
Browns reporter Justin Cooper shared a video of Verse on X/Twitter, showing the defensive end speaking candidly about the exchange with reporters after the game:
“I was telling them like, ‘Y’all double-teaming. Y’all sliding. Y’all garbage.’ I was talking crazy to them. I don’t got no respect for anybody that plays too dirty, and that does too much extra shi* after the game.”
Verse then made it clear he was already looking forward to another meeting with Pittsburgh. He said the next encounter could be just as intense:
“Excuse my French. I can’t wait to see them again. It’s going to be a great time when I see them.”
Verse’s comments came after a heated divisional matchup. The Browns will meet the Steelers again in Week 8, with Cleveland traveling to Pittsburgh on November 1.
Cleveland Browns survive late Steelers rally in Week 4
The Cleveland Browns survived a late Steelers rally to secure their third straight victory. Pittsburgh erased an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit and tied the game at 24 with 1:42 remaining.
Deshaun Watson then moved Cleveland into field-goal range. Andre Szmyt converted a 56-yard kick with 10 seconds left, before Grant Delpit intercepted Aaron Rodgers on Pittsburgh’s final possession.
The result moved Cleveland to 3-1 and kept the Browns atop the AFC North. Cleveland’s defense also recorded five sacks and forced two turnovers in the win.
