Excellent: Andrew Berry Gushes Over Browns Potential No. 6 NFL Draft Pick

Apr 20, 2026, 2:39 AM CUT

The Cleveland Browns hosted multiple wide receiver prospects for top-30 visits ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft. Among them were two players whom Andrew Berry, Browns' general manager, publicly praised.

During the pre-draft presser, Berry was asked about Ohio State WR Carnell Tate and Arizona State WR Jordyn Tyson.

"They're both excellent players. They both have size, they both can separate, good hands," Berry said on April 16. "Obviously Carnell, if he's not an NFL receiver, he probably could be a trapeze artist with how acrobatic he is. And Jordyn's an excellent creator with the ball in his hands."

Then Berry went on to use the word "excellent" four times for both the WR's.

Tate is becoming more and more likely to be the Browns' choice at No. 6. His ability to do acrobatics and separate from defenders is exactly what Cleveland's offense needs.

Tate had his best season at Ohio State in 2025. He caught 51 passes for a career high 875 yards, averaging 17.2 yards per catch and scoring nine touchdowns.

Across three college seasons, Tate never dipped below 14 yards per reception. That reflects the kind of consistent route running and separation ability that translates at the NFL level.

Like Berry, even Tate has expressed his liking for the team.

"I'm very familiar with them, and Cleveland's right up the street from us, probably like an hour and a half, two-hour drive from the [Ohio State] facility," Tate said on the Rich Eisen show.

"I was very comfortable...Touring the facility, talking to the coaches there, them getting a feel for your personality, you getting a feel for them."

And even though Tate is the name that is getting the most attention, Berry made it clear that the Browns do not have just one plan for draft night.

Andrew Berry Says Browns Are Keeping All Options Open

The Browns hold nine picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, including two first-round picks. And Berry has a plan for how the team is going to use them, keeping all options open for their No. 6 pick.

"Our mindset going into the draft with our most valuable asset isn't about, 'hey, just trade it away.' It's maximizing the asset," Berry added in the press conference. "It can be selecting a player, trading it for a veteran, trading down, or trading up."

The Browns traded their No. 2 pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars last year. And got back the fifth overall pick, which they used to draft Mason Graham.

Heading into the draft, it will be interesting to see what Berry and company have planned for this year.
