Ex-NFL Star Sends A Message Following Shedeur Sanders' Major Achievement
Shedeur Sanders just achieved a major life milestone! The Cleveland Browns’ quarterback graduated from the University of Colorado and won praise from a former Philadelphia Eagles player.
Emmanuel Acho, a former linebacker, complimented the discipline Sanders has shown off the field by earning a degree in Sociology.
“This is dope,” the host of the Speakeasy podcast replied to a post on Bleacher Report on May 2. “I love when athletes get a degree even though they may never need it. It’s an incredible sign of commitment and determination.”
Sanders graduated with the class of 2026 after fulfilling his professional commitments, including the first offseason workout, with his team.
His four-year college journey began at Jackson State, and he spent two years there between 2021 and 2022. Sanders then landed in Boulder after transferring to UoC the next year.
The 24-year-old was the program’s star QB and scored 27 touchdowns for 3,230 passing yards. He improved his game the following season, amassing 4,134 yards and 37 TDs.
In an X post shared on the official Colorado Buffaloes football page, Sanders was seen in a celebratory mood.
“What’s up? We at graduation,” Sanders said in the X post. “It’s called excellence, man. It’s excellence.”
This special moment comes at a point when the QB is navigating rough seas within the Browns.
Just days before his graduation ceremony, a report by Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot suggested that veteran QB Deshaun Watson “has the inside track to be named the Browns QB1.”
This development is a major upset for Sanders, who has been vying for the QB1 position from day 1.
In his rookie season last year, he was benched for the first 10 weeks and was only sent in as a replacement for the concussed Dillon Gabriel.
Sanders threw seven passing TDs and 10 interceptions for 1,400 yards and ended the season as the team’s starting QB. While Sanders has little control over the QB situation in the Browns, he has hinted at plans for higher education.
Sanders Would Like To Hold A Master’s Degree
Just as Sanders’ sophomore year with the Browns has begun, the QB has been musing about a master’s degree.
“I gotta stack up my real-life chips, I might think about getting my master’s,” said Shedeur on a recent episode of the Studstillviewz YouTube channel. “I don’t know yet. Something I really feel like that would be very effective.”
As Acho pointed out, Sanders certainly has the drive. He earned his degree and 3.9 GPA while balancing his collegiate football career and then the pro league. But at present, the QB is preparing for what this season and the crowded 4-QB room hold.
