However, the Browns have shown little indication that they plan to make that change immediately. Todd Monken has continued to back Watson, leaving Sanders waiting for his opportunity despite the growing calls from fans.

Now, former Browns star Jarvis Landry has offered a prediction that could disappoint Cleveland supporters. Landry believes Sanders has what it takes to become an NFL starter, but he does not expect that opportunity to come with the Browns.

“I think Shedeur Sanders could be a starter in the NFL. I would say, I don't know if it's going to be, you know, in Cleveland, right? Because once decisions are made at some point, and maybe even after the season, I would say Cleveland definitely needs to go out and get a guy, right?”

Landry’s comments suggest he sees Sanders’ future and Cleveland’s future moving in different directions. From the outside, the Browns appear increasingly likely to reassess their quarterback room after the season.

That could leave Sanders searching for his opportunity elsewhere. Cleveland could instead enter the offseason looking for another quarterback to lead the franchise.

Todd Monken Believes Shedeur Sanders Is Part of the Long Game

Monken has previously suggested that Cleveland’s plans for Sanders extend beyond the immediate quarterback competition. The Browns want to develop the rookie rather than rush him into action before they believe he is ready.

That approach could explain why Sanders remains behind Watson despite the pressure surrounding the veteran. However, the situation could change dramatically once the season ends and Cleveland evaluates its entire quarterback room.

Landry’s prediction now raises an intriguing possibility for Sanders. He could eventually become an NFL starter, but his first real opportunity may come with a team other than Cleveland.
