Ex-Browns Star Defends Jarvis Landry After Heavy Criticism On Kevin Stefanski Comments

When former Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jarvis Landry went off on his ex-coach Kevin Stefanski on his podcast last week.

However, he did not expect his comments to become a major controversy. While analyst and a former Cleveland player Emmanuel Acho called Landry out on his comments, another voice has come forth and defended him.

Former Browns' cornerback Joe Haden recently stated that Landry does not have any reason to lie.

“Jarvis don't got no reason to lie. I’m be honest and he’s not gonna bash somebody and say nothin’ for no reason. He’s not gonna make something up! He’s just talking honestly, and that’s just one thing cuz now people like, ‘why would you say now?’” he said.

While talking on his podcast 4th and South, Landry blasts the former two-time Coach of the Year.

"Only thing he got going for him is 2x COTY. He's not able to get it done as a playcaller and putting it off on somebody else. Team gets success and he takes over playcalling again," he said.

Stefanski has worked with an injury-ridden team of an already difficult team. Despite any possible rift, most Browns players have remained respectful towards Stefanski and shared accountability for his 45-56 record.

Shedeur Sanders, Joel Bittonio, and Jerry Jeudy have even publicly defended him. So, why is Landry being called out for not talking until now?

Jarvis Landry and Kevin Stefanski have shared a decent success with Browns

Landry joined the Browns in 2018 and played with the franchise till the 2021.

He was part of the 2020 season squad, which clinched a playoff berth for the first time in 18 years. Out of 101 targets, Landry made 72 receptions for 840 yards and scored three touchdowns that season.

But, since the Browns made it to the postseason in 2023, they have struggled immensely.

In Landry’s experience, it was because Stefanski started to lose his connection with the players. More importantly, Landry claimed that Stefanski had passed on his game-calling duties to the then offense coordinator Alex Van Pelt, way before it was disclosed to the media.

“I know when I was there for 100% fact, when we were struggling as an offense, I know Kevin Stefanski himself gave up playcalling to AVP,” he said in his podcast 4th and South

This admission has stirred a huge discussion on Stefanski’s decisions and how he revealed them. Haden’s validation of his revelation matters, especially for a coach like Stefanski, who was publicly booed and had every move scrutinized.

Haden himself was a Browns player before joining the Steelers. He retired in 2021 after making 615 tackles, three sacks, and 29 interceptions.
