Ex-Browns QB Gets First Pro Bowl Call-Up In 18 Years Following Shedeur Sanders News
While 23-year-old Sanders is tasting success early on his NFL career, veteran Joe Flacco has just received his first-ever Pro Bowl invite at 41!
When the Pro Bowl takes place in Santa Clara, California, next Tuesday, Flacco will be an alternate. Interestingly, this ends a surprising year for the QB.
He started at the Browns as their QB1, only to find himself traded to the Cincinnati Bengals after the first four weeks. There, he racked up 2,479 yards with 15 touchdowns to end the season at 41 years old.
While the Browns continued to struggle, relying on Gabriel and Sanders, Flacco kept the Bengals afloat until Joe Burrow recovered and came back on the field, becoming the seventh Bengals star to join the Pro-Bowl list.
Joe Flacco will also join his teammates, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, when the Pro Bowl kicks off on Tuesday, February 3, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
The real question, however, is whether Flacco will return next season.
Will Joe Flacco Retire?
At 41, Flacco is one of the senior-most players in the league alongside Aaron Rodgers. But Flacco thinks he will return.
"I've played football most of my life. I think you think about an end. You do think about one day being done, but at the same time, year to year, you don't really think about that. You're just like, 'Oh, offseason. Time to work out and get ready for the next season.' And I think that for the most part, my head is still in that space."
A Pro-Bowl nod will go a long way in cementing that perspective. He's already won Super Bowl MVP with the Ravens, and at 41, getting another honor could give him the confidence he needs. Coach Zac Taylor certainly wants him back. Do you think he'll return?
