ESPN Insider Drops Bitter Blow for Kevin Stefanski as Browns Reportedly Looking to Part Ways
It seems like the 31-3 thrashing from the Bears was the final nail in the coffin for Kevin Stefanski's coaching tenure with the Browns, because top experts have said that he cannot save his job.
Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland has said that the only way Stefanski stays the Browns HC next season is a miracle.
"I think, you know, with three games to go, only a miracle would be enough evidence to sell the public on bringing Kevin and his staff back. And that would be three wins...I've said the Haslams want some reason to bring him back because they don't want to change coaches. But, you know, we're getting to the point now where it's almost mathematically impossible to do."
While Kevin Stefanski is a two-time AP NFL Coach of the Year, even he might know that going up against the Bills, the Steelers, and the Bengals will be difficult. None of these teams possesses a PPG less than 22 in this season; on the other hand, the Browns' PPG is 16.1. They have allowed 23.7 points per game this season while their opponents. Only the Bengals have allowed more than them (31.2).
Statistically Browns don't stand a chance of winning against these teams. It all depends on miracles, and so do Stefanski's chances of being the head coach of this team next year. Grossi isn't the only one saying that.
Jason Lloyd of The Athletic thinks it's simply time for the two parties to start fresh apart from one another.
Stefanski himself has been unclear about this. "I’m not going to get into those types of things. Not my focus,” he said when a reporter inquired about the same.
But who could replace Kevin Stefanski?
Well, the Browns are in shambles. There are questions about the QB situation, and fans want to understand how the Browns will use their drafts. During this rebuilding period, could Deion Sanders be the answer?
NFL Insider reported that the Browns did show interest in Coach Prime, especially after he visited the facility before the Titans game in Week 14.
When Sanders arrived in Colorado, the team had finished 1-11 in 2022. Under his leadership, the team improved dramatically to 9-4 in 2024, including a bowl game and winning a share of the Big 12’s regular-season title.
Sanders used the transfer portal aggressively, bringing in a large number of new players to improve talent quickly, like Travis Hunter and his son Shedeur Sanders. The Browns need someone like this. What do you think?
