A legal inquiry has put ESPN NFL Draft analyst Matt Miller in the spotlight after complaints linked to Miller's fantasy football leagues and charity-related activities have surfaced.

According to Sam Neumann of Awful Announcing, the Missouri Attorney General's Office announced that it has "an open investigation into this issue". The office later asked people who believe someone misled them to contact its Consumer Protection team and file a complaint.

"Our Ben Koo and Brendon Kleen have spent the past week documenting a pattern of complaints tied to Miller's fantasy football leagues," Neumann wrote on Thursday. “They spoke to at least seven people who described paying entry fees for charity fantasy leagues... with buy-ins as high as $500, only to find him unreachable..."

The report says more than 40 people later contacted Awful Announcing with similar claims and shared supporting material. Sleeper told the outlet that the account linked to Miller served as commissioner for 91 fantasy football leagues during the 2025 season.

Awful Announcing reported that Miller paid some overdue amounts after complaints gained attention online and after people reportedly contacted ESPN employees.

The outlet said it reviewed evidence showing Miller made some overdue payments to fantasy participants both before and after his car accident and the GoFundMe campaign he launched for his recovery.

Miller has said his 417 Foundation started in 2013. However, public records show it was officially registered in Missouri in 2018. The outlet added that the foundation later received a cease-and-desist notice, has not filed a Form 990 with the IRS, and is no longer active online.

Questions have focused on charitable projects connected to Miller. Public records reviewed by Awful Announcing raised questions about the timeline and status of one foundation that Miller had promoted over the years.

That legal inquiry comes as Miller continues recovering from a serious accident earlier this month.

While the investigation moves forward, Miller is working through a long recovery after a serious car accident in Missouri.

ESPN has declined to comment on the allegations, the fundraiser, or Miller's future with the network.

"Last week, I was involved in a serious car accident in Missouri and was airlifted to Mercy Hospital," Miller tweeted on X. "I'm deeply grateful for the exceptional care I have received, from the first responders to the doctors, nurses, and medical staff. I'm incredibly fortunate to be writing this...."

In the same post, Miller thanked his supporters for their messages and said he would take his recovery one day at a time. He added that he hopes to return to ESPN to cover football and the 2027 NFL Draft class.

Miller joined ESPN in 2021 after spending more than a decade covering the NFL Draft at Bleacher Report. As the legal investigation continues, the network has not announced any changes involving his role.
