The tension between wide receiver AJ Brown and the Philadelphia Eagles made quite a few headlines. And Brown might get what he wants at last. 

In his recent appearance on the ESPN show Get Up, Jeremy Fowler said that high-level executives are expecting the Eagles to talk trade offers for Brown. 

“Well, some people I’ve talked to around the league, some executives of other teams, do expect that the Eagles will at least entertain a trade for A.J. Brown, who was unhappy on numerous fronts. I mean, name the counts where he looked like he was miserable out there, body language wasn’t good,” Fowler said.

This is not the first time there has been chatter about Browns' trade. It seemed as if he might leave last season, too, but no deal materialized. Much to Brown’s disappointment, who has never shied away from stating his discontent with the Eagles’ offence. 

“I think if we're really focused on winning and doing our job, we can't just keep slapping a Band-Aid over the defense doing their job and getting us out of trouble,” he said in November 2025. 

Last season, the franchise ranked 24th overall in terms of offence. Which was a massive drop from their 8th position in the 2024 regular season.

Brown has also made some cryptic posts on social media and vaguely hinted that he does not like the Eagles. But in the 2026 playoffs, he was noticeably done with everything around him. 

Brown was caught in a heated moment with head coach Nick Sirriani on the sideline. The wide receiver and Sirianni had to be separated before things could have escalated into a physical altercation. 

If a trade fell through, the Eagles would lose an asset on the field. In 2025 alone, he scored seven touchdowns from 78 receptions for 1,003 yards. After making 11 touchdowns in his first year with the Eagles in 2022, Brown has s made the same number of touchdowns since. 

What’s Next for the Eagles if AJ Brown is traded? 

The franchise is set to undergo some changes. And Fowler predicted that the franchise could either pick a new wide receiver.

Or turn to 27-year-old DeVonta Smith, who made four touchdowns for 1,008 yards. Saquon Barkley is even better with his seven touchdowns for 1,140 yards. 

“So, something has to give. That’s sort of the feeling right now. They could build around DeVonta Smith and some other pieces, Saquon [Barkley], maybe add a wide receiver,” he said.
