Eagles Reportedly Lead the Race Amidst Myles Garrett Trade Speculations

The Philadelphia Eagles enter the offseason as the defending Super Bowl champions after a dominant victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Philadelphia aims to bolster its defense by adding elite talent.

At the center of that speculation is the seven-time Pro Bowler Myles Garrett. Before Garrett signed an extension deal with the Cleveland Browns, many believed that the Eagles could make a move.

During an appearance on 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland, NFL analyst Albert Breer shared his thoughts on the Eagles potentially pursuing Garrett.

“I think the Eagles are somebody you always pay attention to,” Breer said.

Garrett, who requested a trade last season before signing an extension, is entering the second year of his four-year contract.

“There would be an appeal there. If you don’t do it now, well, you risk in a year or two when maybe your team is really ready to win, getting a lot less for him,” Breer added.

Garrett had a solid 2025 season with the Browns, finishing with 60 tackles (43 solo), leading the league with 33 tackles for loss, and making an NFL record of 23 sacks in one season. He remains among the league's most disruptive defenders.

According to Philly Voice's Jimmy Kempski, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman checks in on Myles Garrett every year. Kempski added that Philadelphia's strong defensive line would not stop the team from looking into a player like Garrett.

Any potential move will depend on Garrett's contract situation, making June 1 a significant date in trade discussions.

Why a Garrett Deal Remains Complicated Despite Eagles' Interest

According to a report by Daniel Popper of The Athletic, he shared why any trade rumors with Garrett will have to wait until after June 1.

"When assessing post-June 1 trade candidates, you're looking for player contracts that have substantial unaccounted-for bonuses remaining on the deals," Popper writes. "One player who falls in this category is Cleveland Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett, who has not attended OTAs this month."

A post-June 1 trade offers the most financial flexibility for both teams.

According to the Sporting News, by waiting until then, Cleveland would reduce the financial impact of moving on from its star pass rusher.

Instead of a $41.09 million dead-cap charge in 2026, the Browns might spread that across two seasons, bringing the figures to $15.53 million in 2026 and $25.56 million in 2027.

For now, Garrett remains a main pillar of Cleveland's defense. But if the Browns ever reconsider their stance, Philadelphia will be the first to monitor the situation.
