It’s been a rough week for Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, not just on the field, but at home, too. After the team’s second straight loss, frustration from fans seemed to spill over in an unacceptable way, turning personal and painful for Patullo and his family.

Patullo’s home in Moorestown, New Jersey, was vandalized early Saturday morning, just one day after the Eagles fell to the Chicago Bears.

Moorestown Police Department said someone egged his house, a petty act that pushed beyond the world of sports criticism and into something far more personal.

Speaking to reporters, Patullo took a calm but firm tone. “Unfortunately, it happened,” he said. As he spoke, there was gratitude for the city that embraces football with unmatched passion, but also disappointment that passion had crossed a troubling line.

“As coaches and players, we all know that part of our job is to handle criticism. It's perfectly acceptable to sit up here and talk about what's going on, how to fix it, and what we're going to do going forward. But when it involves your family, obviously, it crosses the line.”

He didn’t dwell on the vandalism. Instead, his focus quickly shifted back to football. “At this point, we've just gotta move on. We're trying to win. That's all we want to do,” he said. “Whether it's my family, whether it's the team, all we're trying to do together is focus on this week.”

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni, who confirmed Monday that Patullo would remain the team’s offensive play-caller, has stood by him through the scrutiny.

Patullo credited that support, saying, “Nick does a great job with all of us as coaches, just preparing us for these kinds of moments. You know the pressure is there, but we all accept it because we ultimately want to be at the highest part of our coaching career and continue to work through that, and this is part of it.”

It’s a reminder of the balance between football and real life. “It's a challenge, but it makes it fun,” he reflected. “When you look back on it, you hope that you have more good than bad memories. And when you go through the process like this, it defines you as a person in your career but not as an individual and not as your family.”

As the Eagles prepare to face the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday night, they do so with an 8-4 record still atop the NFC East, but with the Cowboys tightening behind them. For Patullo, the message is clear: keep the focus forward, not backward.

And for fans, it’s a moment to pause and ask where does passion for the game end, and respect for the people in it begin?
