Drake Maye Left with No Excuses After Horror Show at Super Bowl

The New England Patriots lost their sixth Super Bowl (the most by any franchise), and QB Drake Maye only had himself to blame.

Following a devastating 29-13 loss against the Seattle Seahawks, the sophomore QB was absolutely gutted in the press conference. Maye acknowledged that the Patriots didn’t play up to their full potential.

"It's been a long ride. They played better than us tonight,” he said. “Speaking for the whole team and myself, just what a journey it's been for us. I love this team, all those guys in that locker room."

Despite a heartbreaking loss, Maye aimed to use this loss as a motivation for the next season. "That's what I told those guys in the locker room, this is fuel. If it's not, then I don't know what this feeling can do for you. Because this is tough,” Maye said.

The 23-year-old QB was not impressive at all against the Seattle side. Maye threw for 295 passing yards, scoring a couple of touchdowns. However, he also threw 2 interceptions and was sacked 6 times.

Other than feeling sad for himself, he was more disappointed in the head coach, Mike Vrabel.

Drake Maye on Head Coach Mike Vrabel

Drake Maye expressed his disappointed of letting the head coach, Vrabe,l down in the Super Bowl.

Due to the press conference, the 23-year-old got teary-eyed talking about him.

“He was the heartbeat, no doubt about that,” Maye said postgame. “He was a big reason why we’re here. He’s always the same, and I look forward to my relationship with him for a long time. He’s a great person and a hell of a football coach.”

Vrabel changed the entire landscape of the Patriots following their 2024 season, when they finished at the bottom of the AFC East, with a 3-14 record.

In his first season, Vrabel took the New England side to the No. 2 AFC seed and reached the Super Bowl, beating the Chargers, Texans, and Broncos along the way.

Although the Patriots fans suffered a heartbreak, they will be satisfied with what they have seen of Vrabel in his first season as the head coach.
